Kathy Griffin- Straight to Hell

Kathy Griffin is going to Hell, and if I have any choice I will be there with her, laughing my ass off like I was last night.

In Kathy's 6th Bravo special, she makes light of her recent Emmy (or should we say Shmemmy) win and all the hoopla surrounding her parody of NOT thanking Jesus for winning. Kathy is a good Catholic girl and had me in hysterics with her reasoning, her mother's reaction and all the media attention that it gave her.

In a very funny hour (I can hardly wait to see the un-edited edition) she gave us hilarious routines about Paris Hilton (just a retard, and some very funny walking sequences), blasted Dr.Phil about being a fat bald Predator, played mind games with Barbara Walters, explained more about Martha Stewart than I think any of us knew and worshiped the gift they call Paula Abdul. Kathy is more biting and real than ever and left me wanting more.... I am still in awe of her dare to tell humor and bet most of those celebrities shake in their boots when they see her coming.

You can check out a sampling of the hilarity here.

Survivor China - James Digs his Own Grave

This season of Survivor has been great, a good combination of characters and the game is getting pretty interesting.
Last night's episode was astounding. Picking up from the last episode (those 2 long weeks ago), our remaining survivors have another reward challenge at Tribal Council. It's all about China, and no surprise that PG wins (cultural advantage) and she selects Denise and Erik to go off with her to the very cool Shaolin Temple, home of Kung Fu and a rare opportunity.
Our gang of 3 enjoy a private Jet, some champagne and get to the Temple where they are treated to a spectacular show, we learn that our Lunch Lady Denise is into Karate (whoa!) and they have a great time. Meanwhile back at camp Amanda is wanting to stir things up, and hatches a plan to take out James (although Todd has been saying this for weeks and I still think that he is the true Puppet Master) and they decide to blindside James. It all depends on who gets Immunity and if they can make James think he is safe so he doesn't use one of his two Immunity Idols.
Erik wins Immunity, and it appears that PG is the target.... which suits our sneaky gang and they play along, convincing James that PG is next to go and they all pray to their dark gods that he won't use the Immunity Idol. The gods smile on them, James is taken out (and now there are no more Immunity Idols) and the reaction from the Jury was hilarious.... now I can hardly wait until next week to see how much more devious and deceptive our remaining 6 will be.... I still have high hopes for my fave Todd and hope he can weasel his way into the finale...

Bionic Woman - Do Not Disturb

So if the rumor mill is correct, this is probably the last episode of the series.... and all I can really say is that I am not surprised. They just have not been able to get any decent stories or make the characters interesting enough that people want to watch. Let's take a look at the last episode just to see why...

Jamie and gang do a bit of wake for Antonio (good riddance), lots of awkward moments and Jamie is all bummed.

Jamie uses her bionics in public to stop dude on a motorcycle, the special effects are most unspecial.

Jonas shows up at her apartment with whiney sister... more blah blah and they are sent off to deliver briefcase and take some time off.

Stupid code words about the A Team with junkie contact/assassin.... said ass then ODs in the same hotel and Jamie has to check things out.

Irritating sister meets guy, Jamie finds out she is supposed to kill this guy's father as he is the evil terrorist selling nuclear technology. Since when is the Bionic Woman supposed to be a killer? more stupid writing and they wonder why the series is tanking...

Anyways is was just another terrible episode, the concepts and "re-invention" of the character are so far off the original concepts that it is no surprise it fails. Someone should take these writers out and shoot them. Rumor has it that Katee Sackhoff doesn't even want to return as the villain (smart move there) but I have a better idea, do a final team up, let Jamie be killed and the Sarah character can take over as a rogue agent, and she can take down and destroy the stupid Berkut group. Just a thought.

Pushing Daisies - Bitter Sweets

This show is on such another level compared to regular TV. It's combination of fantasy, it's look, it's feel and even it's taste is magical.
Things got exciting at the Pie Hole when the brand new Balsam's Bittersweets Taffy and Sweet Emporium opens up across the street. It appears that the very lovely Dilly Balsam (guest star Molly Shannon) is very competitive and fearless due to some very Hitchcockian circumstances... the homage to the film The Birds was hilarious.
The gang go over to meet the new neighbours, and after some sweet smelling pie attracts the customers out of the Emporium to the Pie Hole (as in ’shut your’ but one sweet whiff and people usually wanna ‘open their’) Dilly goes ballistic. War ensures, Dilly makes the Pie Hole the Pie Ho and gets the Health Inspector after them..... Ned can't really explain why he has a room full of rotten fruit so they get shut down. We learn that Ned doesn't like confrontation and there is another insight into Ned as we see him as a child, playing in a pile of dead leaves with a friend and freaking him out when the leaves come back to life. Ned has had a very complicated life, and I love these peeks into his psyche.
Olive and Chuck decide to get even, so after some great Mission Impossible moves, they release rats in the Emporium and once Ned finds out he goes back to clean up, discovering Dilly's dead brother in the Taffy Vat. Death by taffy.... oh my god. Ned re-animates him, but can't get any information from him due to having a mouth full of taffy.... the cops show up and Ned is accused of murder.
Emerson and Chuck do some sleuthing, and have a great CSI moment using candy to get hand prints... it appears our murder is missing a finger that they found in the victim's stomach. The gang thinks its Dilly, but they are later proved wrong and it's the Health Inspector who has disappeared and we see at the end that Dilly has disposed of his body..... hmmmm
A lot of the episode revolved around Ned and Chuck's relationship, Ned still feeling guilty over his accidental killing of her father and him finally blurting out the truth at the end of the episode... which I have no idea when we will see the next one. Olive got in some great time and I was happy to see the return of the Homeopathic Salesman who truly loves Olive, Digby was hilarious with the Health Inspector and Emerson was showing his skills as a PI. Unfortunately no sign of the Aunts in this episode, which of course made it bitter sweet.

Project Runway - Ex-Football Fashion

One of the things I love about this show is how they try to shake things up each week, and following this formula, we got a make men's wear for some ex-football guy (Tiki Barber) who is a correspondent on the Today Show challenge. I love it when they do this, and take a lot of the designers out of their comfort zone.

I was surprised to see the huge level of stress (again!) that this challenge brought out, and if Ricky does not stop crying every fricking 5 minutes I will personally go there and sew his tear ducts shut. Seriously dude, chill!
Of course I would be amiss if I didn't mention the monstrosity that Ms. Klum was wearing at the Runway --could not figure out this giant poncho butterfly thing that she was wearing, I hope this doesn't mean she is pregnant (again!) as I like seeing a svelte Heidi on the Runway and she usually does better....
Anyways.... almost all of the designers have bitten off more than they can chew for this challenge, and the bitching, stitching and meltdowns ensue. Thank god Jack and Christian are around, they liven things up a bit and are really growing on me. We get to see a lot of Sweet P freaking out, Carmen completely lost and I thought Tim Gunn had a couple of strokes in this episode from the way his eye was twitching. Jack gets creative with his shorts to help his design and shares with other designers which got Rami in a tizzy.

We get the added bonus of male models this evening.... and of course EVERYONE is in complete heaven with all the eye candy except for our resident, self avowing heterosexual Kevin and Elisa, who in her nutty organic way doesn't like to touch other men intimately except for her boyfriend.... err intimately? me thinks you are making clothes and not babies with your model honey... he is probably just thankful that she didn't spit on him.
All of our gay boys had lots of fun with their models, and I couldn't believe how many of the designers were running behind on competing their looks. By this stage I am convinced that Tim has had at least one stroke, and there are tons of pins flying everywhere, fabric being torn and taped and more pressure than I think that I have seen on any episode. Tiki's wife show up to give her opinion and it's already practically zero hour.
Finally we get to the Runway, and the results are mixed.
Jillian presents a nice clean and completed outfit, Kit does well also, as do Rami,Steven,Victorya and Chris. I actually really like Elisa's ensemble. Kevin's is pretty cool and very European.
Now for the bad....
Christian's outfit was terrible, and better get his crap together if he wants to hang around. Dude can sew like a demon though.
Ricky was not even close to being finished and got some pretty snitty comments from dear Nina.... I think that he has been put on notice and don't expect him to hang around, besides he is such a big cry baby...
Sweet P just had no concept of what she was doing and I was really surprised it wasn't her leaving....
which brings us to Carmen.... who didn't even have a shirt for her model and missed the boat.. completely... and is shown the door.
Jack's is great, simple and nicely tailored. He wins this round and did some nice work with out having a meltdown and that makes him a winner in my book.

Bones- The Santa in the Sewer

Christmas came a little early to Bones (a bit too early for my taste but I will take a new episode any time) and not only did we get a great holiday mystery, Bones and Booth got in some major lip lock (and gum exchange) in a moment that seems to have affected both of them more than they want to admit.

The dark humor in this show is the main reason I love it so much, and the way the mythology of Santa was woven into the story was hilarious, with all of the supporting characters getting into the holiday spirit and Temperance learning more about the joy and mystery of the holiday season.

The subplot with making Christmas happen for her dad and brother in prison was great, and Booth showing up at the end with the Christmas tree was great, I really hope the strike ends and we get more episodes. The end of the mystery part of the episode and all the Santas bearing down on the bad Santa and singing " Santa Claus is coming to town" was brilliant... and scary as hell.

The standout scene for me (besides the kiss) was Booth and Bones in the diner with Sweets... him wearing the hilarious elf hat and telling them he was all ears... just too brilliant. Happy holidays to my gang of squints....hopefully we get more of you in the New Year.

Dancing with the Stars - The Final Week

Finally at the grand finale week and we are down to our last 3 teams. Each of the teams have to do a Judges' Choice and then a Freestyle round, and the judges seem to be pretty persnickety with their scoring....

Marie and Jonathon do an okay first dance, and get triple 8s for their Samba. Marie seems a little jumpy tonight, it might be nerves but for the first time I am enjoying her less and have the feeling she won't be in the finale. Their Freestyle round comes later and Marie disappoints with her Doll inspired floppy thing that defies description. The judges aren't too kind and I can't blame them, it wasn't what I expected from her and know she could do better. The scores are the lowest of the evening with and 8 and two 7s. I still have to give her kudos for going so far. It's no surprise that she is eliminated and that leaves Mel and Helio to battle it out for the trophy.

Mel and Maks have a pretty good night of dance.Their first dance is the Cha Cha and they score a nice double 9s with a 10. Later is it time for their Freestyle
and Mel doesn't disappoint with some hot moves.I loved the chair work and her making Maks her boy toy (as usual) but the Judges feel she could have done more. She gets triple 9s and the Spice Girls boo the judges from the audience. I don't think that I was alone in thinking that Mel was going to win with her outstanding performances all season. She certainly was the hottest dancer there after Sabrina got the boot.

Finally we get around to Helio and Julianne. Their first dance was the Jive that had a mediocre response from the judges and earned them two 8s and a 9. Nothing too impressive and for their Freestyle they rocked the judges' world (it was pretty good) and they get a 9 and two 10s. When all is said and done there is a point difference between Helio and Mel, with Mel leading.

I won't get into the ridiculous results show dances that our two teams did, as they both scored perfect scores and changed nothing. It was great to see all of the other teams and sheer joy to see Sabrina and her boyfriend Mark dance again. I still can't believe she didn't make it to the end and hope they do an All Star edition or something where she can come back and kick some ass, she is too talented. It was kind of a shame that some of the other teams didn't dance, but at least Cameron kept his word and off came the shirt for the finale.... very super indeed...

Anyways after all the requisite filler and our Walk of Shame with the ousted dancers, Celine sings a couple of tunes (that woman has pipes) and then we finally get down the the big moment and shock of shocks, horror of horrors, Helio wins.

I will give him credit for working so hard and being a giant grin, but we all have our winners and Mel B is definitely my choice.

Project Runway Canada- Swimming with Sharks

This week's challenge was all about making swimwear, each designer being inspired by a different era of fashion, and as an added bonus had a regular and a plus size model.

Biddell was even more the pompous ass than the previous week, all because he had immunity and thought he could just coast through this challenge. Mr Bully (aka the douche) reminds me of one of those chunky guys that over compensates for his flab by being a prick... and the other designers have all started noticing this as well and there is no love lost between any of them. I think Kendra said it best when she stated that she had never seen so many high maintenance guys before... honey it's the fashion world and most of the guys that work in it are extremely high maintenance.

The challenge is great and I love the fact that they have to design for a plus size as well. After all the drama and Biddell getting a kick in the ass from Brian, we finally get past all that and off to the runway.

The results were pretty much yawn for the most part.

Lucian's Gypsy inspired suits are actually quite nice but not a hit with the judges, but he gets through to the next round. The bully Biddell manages to get a passing grade but still thinks he is the best designer. Stephen was nice in a Greek nymph kind of way,and puts his foot down with Biddell who is shocked that someone would actually talk back to him so he pouts in the corner. This makes me smile.

Shernett was atrocious with her flapper inspired suits (yikes!) and Kendra had difficulty channeling Marie Antoinette into her suits which leads to her demise. I figured Shernett to be booted and was surprised.

Marie Genevieve rocked the house with her UK punk inspired suits and won the challenge. Pretty good for a designer who had never made swimwear before.

Heroes - Truth & Consequences

In what may be the penultimate episode of the season, things got pretty busy with our Heroes last night, and best of all Sylar started getting his evil mojo back on. The best news, Wonder twins, one down and one to go.

Suresh is turning into a more complicated character than I expected, and the resurrection and sequestering of HRG is adding to this mystery. Suresh sure seems to think he is playing on the side of angels but I think he will be in for a nasty surprise. We all know it's not a good idea to piss off HRG...

Monica and Micah do some super heroics to retrieve his dad's medal which doesn't end up all that well so hopefully we will find out some resolution next week. Micah's powers are very cool and I wish Monica had truly gone all St-Joan and used some of those martial arts moves on the gang.... are there more limits to her powers that we don't know? I thought she could pull out these photographic reflexes anytime... anyways I still love both characters and was ecstatic to see Nana for even a minute. Niki is waiting for a cure and hopefully she will be around for awhile... her character is too fascinating and it would be cruel for Micah to lose both parents.

Claire and family are trying to deal with the apparent death of HRG and Claire actually impressed the hell out of me last night. Great emotional scenes, and her confrontation with Elle was great.... hopefully we will get some knockdown action next week and see her kick some electric ass.

Peter and Hiro both learned more about the deadly virus (the infamous #138), and Hiro discovered more about Adam and with a quick trip in time even saw his father back in the 1970s... great acting there again and I just wish Ando was around more to be more of a balance for Hiro, they make a great dynamic duo. Peter is learning the truth about Adam slowly but surely, and with Hiro confronting him at the end of this episode it will be interesting to see on what side he will play. There is a storm gathering in Odessa and rumor has it 2 heroes will fall next week..... my guesses are Adam and Maya.... mind you with Sylar holding Molly hostage and waiting for Suresh it could be anyone...

Chuck VS the Nemesis

Things certainly started off well today, it looks like our favorite nerd has been picked up for a full season! Now if this Writers' Strike thing will end we will get all new geekiness.
I absolutely loved last night's episode; the return of Bryce (not so rogue and not so dead), the continuing drama between Chuck and Sarah, Casey being as abrasive as ever, and the hilarity that is called Black Friday at the Buy More.
When things get to the point in retail that you need a code word to signal disaster, (and to use the word Pineapple) you know some hilarity is going to ensue. The rampage scene complete with Jeff being knocked down by various objects was hilarious. The Buy More gang is growing on me more and more each week but still not sure how things will turn out with Anna and Morgan... complicated stuff. Big Mike was hilarious and I loved his slow motion run to the doors, vaulting counters and it was pretty damn impressive.
Thanksgiving dinner happened with Chuck and family and included Bryce and Sarah reconnecting and some more strife for Chuck. I was in awe of the Klingon coding between Chuck and Bryce against the new rogues, Fulcrum That is one bad ass dude in charge and he looks like a good returning villain. The fight scenes with Bryce and Sarah against the bad guys, how "super spy" they both looked, all perfectly coordinated and bouncy and shiny was great, and although they looked so damn sexy together you know I was still pulling for Chuck. Anyways the episode ends with Bryce going back underground, and Sarah deciding to go with him or to stay with Chuck.... we all know how this is going to play out...

Amazing Race - No chicken, no check-in

This may not have been the most exciting episode of the Race so far this season, but it still had some great challenges, the nifty new U Turn and one of the most graceful exits that I have seen in the history of the show.

The teams are still in Bingo, Burkina Faso, and all the teams have to get a gift from the village Elder before getting the next clue and continuing on their way. You might have guessed that they all get a chicken... which they need to bring with them on this leg of the Race to the next Pit Stop.

Our blondes decide to name their chicken Phil... I don't usually try to name my dinner as it complicates things later....

The challenges are interesting again, Shake your Pan or Shake Your Booty, and the majority of teams decide to do some tribal dancing to get their next clue. The challenge is very cool, you get to choose a dancer and learn some local culture, and Jen and Nate and Ronald and Christina were penalized 10 minutes for not being that good.... Jen will never live this one down being a dancer (huh?) and all....and I was chuckling to myself thinking that Christina must have insisted for Dad to dance as it would probably aggravate his hernia. Azaria and Hendekea performed well and finished first and later Kynt and Vyxsin rocked the house (loved the freestyle ninja warrior stuff) and the blondes bumped and grinded their way on.... meanwhile at the Gold Panning challenge Gramps and Nicolas finished quickly and were followed by TK and Rachel who decided the dancing was too hard and went for the gold. Loreena and Jason are still way behind everyone as they finish up the detour and head off to the next clue, which has the new U Turn. You can use this option once in the Race to make one of the other teams go back and complete the other Detour, and all of the teams pass on this option except the Blondes, who decide to slow down Loreena and Jason even more.

The games continue with the Roadblock, loading up a bike with tons of stuff and having to navigate the marketplace to find the recipient. The teams had a rougher time with this, the language barrier being the biggest challenge, and once all was said and done Azaria and Hendekea arrived almost neck and neck at the Pit Stop with Nate and Jen. Jen is quite the sore loser and whined about not arriving first and that all the teams deserved to win atleast once, and all I can say honey is that it is a RACE and you have to win the leg to get the prize.

My fave couple, the Goths, arrived 5th, and showed how much heart they have by actually being touched by the poverty around them. I think I love them even more each week.

Loreen and Jason arrived last, but even before arriving Jason impressed the hell out of me supporting his partner and saying that money doesn't make you rich, and his obvious love and compassion was the highlight of the episode. Good people who unfortunately left the Race too soon, and the Blondes better watch their backs as they have a huge target on it now.

Battlestar Galactica - Razor

Things don't get much better than this. After months of drought, we finally get something "new" in the BSG universe and it's a hell of a ride.
I won't get into a length recap of what happened, there are tons of blogs with those around, but this movie pulled out all the stops (as usual) and is still one of the frakking best things written out there.
It was sheer pleasure to see more of what happened before (and maybe doomed to repeat its self?) as we got to see what happened all those months ago when the war began and how the Pegasus survived to finally meet up with the Galactica. Although the story wasn't centered on Admiral Cain (the great Michelle Forbes), we did get to see her slow descent into hell as she tried to balance survival, deceit and more moral dilemmas than you can possible imagine.
The revelation that Cain had been intimate with Six (aka Gina the network administrator) was one that I did not expect, and I have to applaud the writers for including a lesbian relationship that seemed completely normal and accepted by all around.... I think this is the first time we have had even a hint of a gay character (although you would think there are several of them on the show) but how accepting everyone seemed to this.... kudos to the writers. Once Cain and the others discover that Gina is a Cylon, Cain's coldness and dismissal of her shows how polarized she is, and her hurt over the betrayal is pushed even further when Cain tells the interrogator, “I want you to interrogate our prisoner. Pain? Yes, of course. Degradation, fear, shame — really test its limits. Be as creative as you feel you need to be.”
The development of the XO character, Shaw, and her struggle to deal with betrayal and the new world order was fascinating and heart wrenching. No other show deals with characters on such a deep and intimate level. I kept wondering exactly how close to Cain she had been, there were more lesbian undertones than you could shake a stick at in the film. Shaw's acceptance by Cain is highlighted when Cain says, “Sometimes we have to do things we never knew we were capable of, just to show the enemy our will. You have to drop all natural inhibitions and become a razor for as long as you have to be.” The juxtaposition of morality and survival is tested over and over again and the scene in the colonist's ship is extremely disturbing.
It was fascinating to see how the story wove so easily through the past and present, and it was a great shout out to the original series seeing older versions of the Cylons (including those who spoke in that mechanical voice) and the Guardian models, the first in the human/Cylon hybrids. The back story via the flashbacks with a young Adama were great, and the haunting voice that kept repeating “All this has happened before and it will happen again” that was repeated multiple times with different characters added another level to the mythology.
The big shocker at the end, with the hybrid saying that “Kara Thrace will lead the human race to its end — she is the herald of the Apocalypse, the Harbinger of Death. They must not follow her” makes me wonder if it is the end for the Cylons or the humans.... and now with the writer's strike we may not know for months.. frak!

America's Most Smartest Model

I have already admitted that I am a complete trashy reality show junky, and have been catching episodes of this very nifty show on VH1 for the past few weeks. How can you not like such a cleverly named show that is trying to find that perfect mix of brains and beauty... and has the stellar Ben Stein as part of the judges.

The show is just best mixture of eye candy and stoopid people that makes it an extremely entertaining car wreck of a show to watch. Even better than StripSearch or that crazy Paula Abdul Show... but let's get back to this episode.

So the competition has been bitching and posing it's merry way for the past few weeks, and the last episode had the gang celebrating Daniel's birthday but unknown to them (seriously?) it also included the requisite "Edge Challenge", giving one of our models an advantage in the next Callback challenge. It was all about networking with some LaLa land VIPs, and only a couple of the models caught that and most were drunk and more stoopid. Russian guy Andre spent most of his time trying to get jiggy with some bar chick, Daniel was hammered for his birthday, Rachael was incoherently drunk, Angel thinks some creepy guy is hitting on her, Pickel is too friendly and very animated with his hands, but VJ and Brett catch on and do well. Once the gang finds out that it is a real challenge and not just a night out, it all hits the fan and Daniel has one major meltdown, which also entails him running around in his underwear and having one major tantrum. VJ wins the Edge and the next day has the most amount of time for the photo shoot and will select how much time each model has for their respective shoot.

It's all good TV. VJ is on a power trip and most of the gang hates him.

Finally we get to the Challenge and it's for some
Jeans Company and you have to pose with an animal. Oops!

VJ gets to choose first, and goes for the horse, Angela takes the goat, Rachael gets the donkey, Pickel snatches up the chicken, Brett gets the pig, Andre takes the llama and that leaves Daniel stuck with the ostrich.

Since the models have different amounts of time, VJ has lots of time to get his very gay pose down much to the chagrin of the photographer and judges. Andre thinks its stoopid, but he thinks everything is.
Angela gets too "posed" with her goat and Rachael doesn't fare much better with her donkey.

Things finally pick up when it is Pickel's turn, not only does he get in tons of shots, but he seemed to be the only one that really connected with his animal. It probably sounds more perverted and scary than it is, but it was great.
Brett manages to get a couple of snaps before losing the pig, and is traumatized for life from the squealing ... someone should send him a copy of Deliverance to see his reaction.
Andre gets all butch with his llama and actually gets the best shot and ends up winning the challenge.
Poor Daniel has no luck with the ostrich, and gets nothing but a panic ridden shot that ends up sending him home. Before the big elimination we are treated to another blow out between the guys (just a bunch of bitchy girls it seems...) and I loved how Andre was taking his shirt off while yelling at VJ... the boys are trying to unite against VJ and it's funny to watch them preen and strut. Like I said... more quality TV.

Project Runway Episode 2 - Sarah Jessica Parker's Sweatshop

The designers were in a literal tizzy when guest judge and fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker arrived this week with their next challenge, to design a 2 piece ensemble for her fall and winter Bitten clothing line.

The gang had to make a sketch, and then SJP would choose her faves and the designers would work in pairs to complete the project. After meeting with all the designers and choosing the projects, the designers are all worried about who will have to work with our organic crazy one, the way out there Elisa. Sweet P is paired up with her and it's time to shop and get to work.

I loved the idea that it was to be a design accessable to all, and that they had a huge 15$ to spend on materials so you knew it was going to be a great challenge.Things move along nicely, Sweet P gets freaked out by Elisa spit marking her fabric and there is lots of drama and bitching as the designers work furiously to make their designs with the hope of winning and getting their design in stores.

After all is said and done, Christian creates a monstrosity that is not well received by the judges, but it is Marion who fails the test and is dismissed. Victorya wins, and Elisa gets kudos for her work, showing that you can be kinda crazy to work in fashion, in fact it probably helps.

Pushing Daisies - Death by Scratch 'n Sniff

Last night's episode was sweet, not only did we get Paul Reuben's guest starring , but we got an interesting hommage to the Wizard of Oz, naughty Pop Up Books, Pie Cakes , Aunt Lily almost cracked a smile and a lovely rendition of Morning has Broken by Aunt Vivian. Can this show get any better?

The storyline was hilarious, our gang getting involved after a poor assistant gets blown up by a Scratch 'n Sniff book, leading to much witty banter and the usual unusual suspects. Our victim/villain is none other than author Napolean LeNez, who amongst other things has a super smell. Emerson smells like cigars, cologne and wool, Chuck smells like honey and death... whoa!

Chuck tries to get Ned to relax and accept the concept of Pie Cakes and continues in her plan to save her Aunts with Olive, Phase 1 hasn't been working that well so time to go to Phase 2, and to get those Mermaids back in the water with Sunshine in a box (chlorinated pool tablets).. this show is just too brilliant. Olive gets to try on a mermaid costume (wow) and bonds more with Chuck, although more than she is ready for.

The gangs discovery of the plot and their quest to follow the " Yellow thick hose" had me rolling on the floor, and our friend Paul Reubens as Oscar was brilliant. Oscar will hopefully be coming back as he has noticed something odd about Chuck...

I was a very happy camper to finally see our Darling Mermaids finally back in the pool, and their costumes were a real hoot. Best of all they showed in the preview for next week that Molly Shannon is guest starring and how much better can this show get?

Dancing with the Stars - Week 9

It was the semi-finals, and the 4 remaining Stars pulled out all the tricks and flips in this all important penultimate round.
I have to give kudos again to Marie Osmond, not only is she still a great performer, but she has improved her technique as well and was pretty darn entertaining. How could you not like her? Her and Jonathon did a great Quickstep (almost perfect score damn you Bruno) and later their hot little Mambo, and you can see and feel how much fun she is having. Let's just say that thousands of Osmonds are behind her so you know she is in the Finale next week. I don't expect her to win but I congratulate her none the less.
Helio & hyper-competitive Julianne continued in the race to the finish, and put in 2 great performances, the Foxtrot and the ever popular Cha Cha Cha. I liked both and Helio is a huge surprise and very nimble for a race car driver. Not sure if he will win due to the " Who is he?" factor but the guy is working his ass off. The Judges love him to pieces and he gets perfect scores all the way around. Of course they will be in the finale.

Mel and Maks were just too hot again. I love the chemistry between these 2 (and bet they could have beautiful babies) and hit a perfect score with their amazing Viennese Waltz. We got to see Maks tortured by the Spice Girls (who all seemed a little smitten with him I'll have to say) and then they brought down the house with another Paso Doble. Mel with a whip certainly inspired most of the guys there and she was a knock out in her Velour suit- hot hot hot. They get another perfect score and I am ecstatic when I hear they will be in the finals next week. I can hardly wait and hope that Mel wins, she is a goddess.

Jennie finally broke the ice and let her self go, but a tad late. She finally got that perfect score that she was waiting for with a nice Cha Cha Cha after getting a decent score on her Tango. If she had better chemistry with her partner Derek should probably would have made the finals but someone has to go, and Jenny doesn't have the family power that Marie has. She did a great job and should be proud of how far she went.

Project Runway Canada - Episode 7

I haven't been doing much blogging about the series (usually because I like to blog about Heroes and Chuck which play the same night), but last night's episode was such a do that I had to say something.

First of all, Biddell is a complete douche. This week's challenge was to make a dress for a Charity auction benefiting Keep a Child Alive. This charity is close to Iman's heart and provides valuable support to children living with HIV in Africa, and is a great chance for the designers to get known and make a difference. Snooty Biddell whines about sewing for the rich, not seeing the big picture and being an obnoxious shit. The dress is supposed to be inspired by Hope and most of the designers catch the concept easily without turning it into a dramatic hissy fit.

This challenge is a more complicated one as the dresses will have to be on display for the auction which means our designers have to make sure they are completely finished and flawless, this of course means lots of stress and Brian goes over all the dresses with the designers to make sure things go as well as possible. Finally after all that drama creating the dresses, a ton of catty remarks and the douche trying to redeem himself, the big event arrives and it's time for Iman to make a tearful plea for the children and Stephen Lewis to make a guest appearance. I was still wondering who these Canadian rich women were who were to buy these dresses but that seemed to be overlooked....

Once the bidding starts, we find out that one dress has already gotten a $10,000 dollar bid (and that is in Canadian dollars!) and that everyone is pretty happy with the work done and the next day will be the show off with the judges.

Judgement day arrives and one of my favorites Marie Geneviève has the highest bid for a dress and the douche has the best design (there is no justice in fashion it appears) and finally Megan is eliminated from the show. Megan has been teetering on the edge for weeks now, and it appears that her lack of sewing ability was too much finally. She does manage to get in a snotty remark about being a designer and not a sample maker before leaving and I hope the door hits her on the ass on the way out.

Iman is still as terrifying as ever, and every time she dismisses a designer I get a feeling like someone just walked over my grave... but my faves MG and Lucian are still around and hope that they make it to fashion week.

Heroes - Cautionary Tales of Dead Dads

This was a great episode of Heroes, no make that a funfrickingfantastic episode with lots of action and some great development with the storyline.

Not all of the characters were in the episode as things centered more on HRG and family, Hiro ties things up with his father and Matt goes over to the dark side. Oh yeah, and Suresh is a suprisingly good shot.

Hiro goes back in time to save Dad, and there is a great moment when he takes his father back to his mother's funeral and meets himself as a child. George Takei was great with his whole letting destiny play out routine and it was great to see him again. Hiro was a little shocked to discover it was Kensei (Adam) that killed Dad and this sets the stage for what appears to be a major battle with our immortal man.

Matt learns he can "push" people to do his bidding and uses this ability on Molly, his boss and then Angela Petrelli, forcing her to speak the truth and reveal the other members of the Company and information about Adam. He starts crossing that line of morality and this can be a very dangerous ability in the wrong hands ... let's hope he can handle it.

HRG is still my number one character, his ability to juggle various moral dilemas, his dangerous intelligence and how he will fight to protect Claire at any cost. I love how he manipulated West to help him, and their little team up to rescue Claire from Bob, Suresh & Elle. I am not completely happy with the turn of events with Suresh and he sure seems to be jumping on the Company line pretty fast. Bob manages to get some of Claire's blood, which should bode well for Niki...

HRG and Bob each holding each other's daughters hostage was another shot of brilliance and you have to say that HRG short-circuiting Elle was pure evil genius. Elle has developed into a fascinating character and loved how they tried to explain more of why she is so unstable, and I love how her personality ebbs and flows and you are not sure what she will do next. Suresh ends up shooting HRG, making Isaac's prediction painting a reality and our beloved HRG is laying there with a big old bullet through the eye (amazing shot) before we end the episode and see our friend resurrected by a transfusion of Claire's blood.

Wow.

The bad news: not a mention of some of our other Heroes (the problem with having lots of characters) such as Monica, Niki, Peter or even uber villain Sylar. I won't even mention the Wonder Twins.

Chuck VS the Imported Hard Salami

Another geektastic episode of Chuck, but no more Lou? boo hoo

This week was all about smuggling various cargo, dealing with your ex and the perils of running a Deli. All this PLUS a shocking return from the dead. The pacing has picked up and the development of characters from episode to episode makes this one a winner.

Hanging with the gang at Buy More, Chuck breaks up with Sarah while the gang does a Pat Benatar rant... Heart breaker... it was just too funny. Lester tries to be rebound boy with Sarah and gets scared off in a very funny scene. Morgan decides it's time to get some too and goes after Anna to some hilarious results and the creation of the Morgan Pizza... nothing but cheese... this show is so great for it's details.

Finally Chuck gets some quality time with Lou, and after a hot make out scene in the Nerd Herd mobile he gets invited in by Lou for the best sandwich anywhere. The scene has that "When Harry met Sally lunch at the Diner" feeling and I love the chemistry between the two of them. Things get all buggy when Chuck flashes on an invite to a Club and our Spy stuff gets into gear.

The chemistry is hilarious with his handlers, from Sarah being jealous and Casey being his usual abrasive self ( Adam Baldwin is hilarious and underused) and after a hilarious intel operation in the Club and big fight with Lou, Chuck redeems himself with Lou momentarily at the Deli before it all falls apart again.

I love Chuck, his inherent "goodness", geeky sensibilities and how he is slowly gaining confidence as we go along on his adventures. His hots for Lou, breakup with Sarah and going forward in his life gets all smooshed in his face in this episode, and Chuck learns lessons, gets a big kiss with Sarah and seems to be getting more comfortable with himself. All will hit the fan next week when it's the return of Bryce....

Amazing Race - Karma and Camels

I love the fact that this show takes people all over the world, and that quite often it is to areas that many people will never have the chance to see. That being said, I am still appalled each time I see teams not being to understand or to be even the least hospitable to how people live in developing nations. I think our 2 blondes learned a lesson or 2 this week, but was still a little pissed on how negative they were to our friends living in Africa. Yes, people in developing nations don't always have running water or sanitation systems, but they are still people no matter what and deserve our respect and support. Shana and Jennifer need a little lesson in tolerance.... and to not play the ugly tourist.

Karma is still working overtime on this show, and our nasty dad from last week has a hernia now and in constant pain as he continues the race. Talk about poetic justice, Christina must be laughing hard on the inside watching " Who's your daddy?" have to grin and bear it.

I can't believe how many teams are going into meltdown mode each time there is a challenge, and although milking a camel can't be that easy, freaking out and making a complete ass out of yourself in front of a whole village must leave the worst impression of Americans to the people of Bingo, Burkina Faso. As usual, the teams that stay calm and concentrated on the task at hand finish quickly while others self destruct slowly.

Unfortunately my fave team (Team Goth) is in the middle of the pack, so not much action with them last night. (Although Kint's remark that his partner is more butch than him had me chuckling, these 2 are great.) The episode was full of challenges again, this year they seem to be making it much more difficult and it is really testing the mettle of the teams involved. I love all the stuff with the camels and then going off to school to teach or learn. This show is so great that you get to learn some native language during the Race--- to paraphrase someone it is just "awesome". We even had some wacky weather thrown in and it was funny to see Phil all wet when one team arrived and then dry when others arrived.... the departure times next week will be all over the place.

Anyways, after all was said and done, sisters Marianna & Julia are eliminated this week, while brother and sister Azaria & Hendekea win this round.

MADtv - 300th Episode

Featuring Debra Wilson as Whitney Houston

and there was a special appearance by the great Mo Collins as Lorraine wins a trip to Universal Studios. It was a shame there wasn't more of the original cast members that visited as I would have loved to see Nicole and Stephnie.

Smallville- Blue

I had high hopes for this episode, the story premise was interesting with Lara being resurrected, Zor-el going all megalomaniac and the chance to have some major Kryptonian fight scenes.

yeesh...

I thought the scripting sucked, the action sucked and could not figure out what the hell they were doing with the story.

Lara didn't do anything super except see the darkness in Lana... the whole Blue Kryptonite crap that takes away powers didn't fly with me, the resolution of the storyline with Kara being mindless in Detroit was a pretty WTF ending.... can we blame the writers?

The only positives were:

Not much Lana, and she pretty much just got smacked around this episode. Chloe put her foot down and told Lois to be professional if she wanted to be taken seriously. Mr Impossibly Young Editor turns out to be long lost and long thought dead Julian Luthor... sigh.... my brain hurts from trying to figure out some of this crap. You know I am only on this ride because I am an extreme geek.

Project Runway Season 4

How I love this show, and best of all there are 2 versions that I am watching at the moment with the Canadian version at about the 1/2 way point at this time.

Season 4 started off great, the producers have gone out of their way this time to make sure there are tons of interesting (and hopefully talented) designers for this round.

Some first impressions:

There are so many wacky names for all these contestants!

The run and get your fabric at the the beginning of the challenge was a little mean for Chris... I mean the guy had barely time to get to the tents before the 10 minutes were up... but you got to love a guy that makes a lot of costumes for Drag Queens.

Christian is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out there.. or is it just his hair?

Kevin seemed too eager to flaunt his heterosexuality, was that really necessary?

Anyways.... the challenge was great, a chance to show who you are and to have a ton of great fabric to make it work (how I have missed Tim Gunn!) and at the end it all came down to crazy organic Elisa (seriously, what were you thinking???) and Simone. Crazy trumps bad work this time... so Simone is out and the challenges continue. Congrats to Rami for winning the first challenge, his dress was a work of art.

Pushing Daisies - Bitches

How I missed this show last week when it wasn't on... the visual appeal and great stories make it so much fun to watch, and last night's episode was fanfrickingtastic.

Not only did we get a great guest appearance from Joel McHale (of the Soup fame) as the tenacious, klutzy, polygamist dog breeder that was poisoned by one of his wives, we have the 4 different wives in the Dog Industry that were hysterical in each a very different way ( our Uber Dog trainer was too much ) click click click...

Anyways the storyline revolved around the breeding of the perfect dog (Bubblegum) for this big national company called Snuppy's Puppies was hilarious... this show just makes everything look so amazing and like it's in a universe all it's own.

Having the gang of Emerson, Chuck, Ned and Olive go undercover to find out the dirt was hilarious, and I love how Digby played his undercover role so well, going with each of them to the Dog Boutique, the Dog Psychologist, The Dog Trainer and the Dog Behaviour Specialist. Olive disguising herself and calling herself Pimento was sheer brilliance... and there was much witty banter at lightspeed flying around last night.

Poor Ned was having dreams of Olive and Chuck, dealing with the kiss and his feelings and needs, but for me it was Emerson who stole the show last night, pulling out some of the best lines and then being captured by the Trainer (click click) and being all bound and gagged with a squeeky toy... too brilliant.

Bionic Woman - Trust Issues

Blah.

Another episode, and damn it not a sign of Sarah this week so nothing that interesting.

Basics of the episode:

See Jaime run, jump and run.

Interlude of crap with new boyfriend.

See Jaime run even more.

Wow Jaime ran and jumped up a building, and the special effects were terrible.

Isaac Washington's character Antonio gets killed off-- hooray!

Oh and yes NBC, I did notice you trying to subtly sneak some bionic sound effects into the background, but a little late no?

Dancing with the Stars - Week 8

Things heated up even more on the dance floor this week, and although they didn't get that perfect score (damn you Carrie Ann) Mel's Mambo with Maks was hot hot hot. No one else left in the competition can match the chemistry between these 2 and they are always a pleasure to watch.

Helio & Julianne did a great job and even got the encore with their Quickstep, although I have to agree that Helio did look like a big banana.
His kiss at the end of the dance looked like a surprise for all including his partner.

I thought that Jennie was pretty mediocre this week, she is doing okay but not giving that wow factor that some of the other stars project so easily, Marie was ok... I think she did well considering all that is going on in her life at the moment and is always an entertainer. Cameron did his usual thing.... mostly looking good and wearing something slightly revealing (not that I am complaining) but you can tell how hard he is trying which is very admirable.
So after the first night, the dancers are pretty tight as far as scores go, and as we get around to finding out who is still in the competition I am not surprised that Marie is the first one announced as staying. Seriously, it would only take a call from the Osmonds (huge family that they are) to keep her in and I am happy for her, I don't think that she will win but at least she made it to the Top 4.
Finally we learn that Mel & Maks are still in (yahoo!), and then that long awkward pause, a few commercials and we learn the Jennie & Derek are still in and Cameron & Edyta are eliminated, leaving Helio the last man standing.
Thanks for playing Cameron, you were the best male eye candy this year but pretty sure it will be one of the ladies winning this year.

Heroes - 4 Months Ago

Last night finally gave us the chance to catch up on what happened months ago.. hopefully this will be the new direction and we can go forward with the stories instead of doing a Lost kind of flashback thing... it works for Lost but not on this show.

I liked the episode, and even though we only got to see a handful of characters, I loved seeing what had happened with Peter and Nathan after the explosion, and how Peter met Elle ( who I finally found fascinating as far as characters go) and Adam and the great escape. I would still like to see more of dear old Mother Petrelli as I am still convinced the lady has some ability that hasn't been revealed....

The story with Niki and DL was ok..... I thought it was kind of stupid to shoot the guy again and have him die this time... it was great to see Nana and Monica in the flashback but Niki developing another personality was pushing it a bit...what's next? Our look back at the beginnings of the Wondertwins didn't do much for me, and I wonder why give them screen time when other characters weren't even on the scene? I would have enjoyed seeing what happened with Sylar more. Anyways it was a better episode and I hope this momentum keeps up.

Chuck VS the Truth

Last night's episode was a huge turning point in Chuck's world. Things have changed quite a bit and some of the twists and turns were more than expected.... I can't believe that Chuck may now be Tang free.

The storyline was great, Chuck dealing with his fake relationship with Sarah after meeting the "hot licorice hair chick" from the deli (Lou) and our requisite bad guy, the evil Marshall (from Alias) who was using a combination poison/truth serum to get the codes for some Nuclear system. Due to an unfortunate coincidence, Chuck's sister Ellie gets involved, gets poisoned, spouts out tons of hilarious truths and much insanity ensues, including our spy gang getting dosed with truthiness and some more hilarious moments. There were tons of great snippy comments between characters.

Chuck confronts his relationship with Sarah from beginning to end in this episode, all the way from their fake dates to fake sleeping together and under the influence of said truthiness asks Sarah if there ever will be anything between them. Sarah says no, but we learn that she is trained to be able to resist truthiness so guess she lied...

Chuck is all hot for Lou, so he wants to pursue things with her and breaks up with Sarah... we'll see how that turns out.

The biggest shock was Harry Tang discovering the spies and being sent off to Oahu to protect the country... I'll miss our resident Buy More manager from Hell but it appears that the big boss will miss the Lady Tang even more.... come back Harry Tang!

Desperate Housewives - Deception

I loved last night's episode, and how they wove their central theme of "Deception"throughout the entire show. The story lines keep up a great pace, and I really found that the whole hour passed so quickly I couldn't believe it was already over.

LOVED the whole Gaby, Victor and Carlos adventure at Sea, had a huge LOL moment the second time Gaby decked Victor with the Oars and had that big hmmmmmmm moment at the end wondering if Victor is still out there... more deception?

It was great seeing Lynette's sisters and the dramedy storyline of her mother. Ditching mom with her sister at the restaurant was hilarious and I love seeing how ingenious Lynette is. The confrontation with her sisters about responsibility and the apparent rupture between them seemed like real life stuff. Mom's escape at the end made me wonder if she was getting out for her own good, the good of her kids or because she knew she wasn't wanted. Lynette seems to get the heaviest story lines and am looking forward to seeing her have some fun.
The Bree circumcision storyline was true Bree, making sure she was getting what she wanted, making sure it looks good and will go to any means to accomplish this, so you know that some deception has to be involved. Crashing a Bris and playing Jewish? tsk tsk but so naughty and funny. The stand out line of last night was her declaration that her child "will be as devout a Jew as she is"... too funny. Bree did manage to redeem herself slightly by touting love instead of blood at the end so you know there is some help somewhere.
Mike is popping pills, Bree catches on to this and tells Susan, much mayhem ensues and after finding Mike's stash and confronting him, Mike dumps it down the drain in front of Susan. Of course we know this is deception (the man is a fricking plumber!), so no surprises there. Just questions about what the hell are they doing with Susan and Mike this year??
Katherine and Dylan had the biggest deception going on.... we still don't know what happened all those years ago, why Dylan doesn't remember, what happenned to dear old Dad... just hints about abuse and some real bad stuff. Dylan has questions and Katherine will do anything to make Dylan stop and deceives her daughter into thinking Dad tried to kill her years ago.... makes you wonder even more what did happen? Will we ever know with the Writer's Strike?

MADtv - Feist

Another brilliant musical parody of Feist and the I-Pod by the brilliant Nicole Parker. The gang at MADtv have been great so far this year and I hope there is still more to come.

Amazing Race - There's another use for that pole...

Things got a lot messier and uglier on the second episode of the Race. I am not sure if it's just me, but it seems like there are way more teams in meltdown mode already (and it's only week 2) than I have seen in previous editions. Still, it's one of the better reality shows out there and our trip to Holland was pretty nifty.

I won't make the obvious jokes about the Dykes being eliminated in Holland... that would be snarky even for me (hee hee), but I was hoping for most of the second challenge (the pole vault over the canal) that Christina would take the pole and beat her father to death with it. Archie Bunker comparisons be damned, Ronald is a mean, mean father who continually puts his daughter down and had me cringing everytime he opened his mouth. I hope they leave soon as I am not sure if I want to watch this kind of family dynamic each week.

As you can see by my choice of image, things got real messy in the challenge and when Gramps decided to strip down to complete it, and Nicolas said it best when he said that " anger and frustration paid off in the end" when they completed the challenge.

Kynt and Vyxsin were great, handling the challenges well and sticking around the middle of the pack, and had me in stitches with Kynt's comment that he was more of a prissy kind of guy and not really into getting dirty.

Another week and more great visits to other countries.. I wonder who will meltdown next week?

MADtv version of Lesbionic Woman

Great minds think alike it seems... MADtv did a version of the Bionic Woman this week also and it was funny also in a different way... and how great that at MAD they kept the original sound effects which is something the crappy remake should have done.

This spoof was advertised last week, meaning it was developed around the same time as the version on AOTS. Even with the strike we get new MADtv which is a great thing.

Lesbionic Woman

This is a wayyyyyyyy better version than that one on NBC

Supernatural - Red sky at morning

Last night's episode had it all; strange Ghost Ships that appear every 37 years, one handed Pirates, a very vicious Cougar and another appearance by Bela.

I love the humor in this show, and Gert (our cougar) was downright scary... watching Sam deal with all this and fighting off a very horny old lady was worth more than a few chuckles. Keeping with the sexual tension and innuendo was Bela threatening Dean (who looked pretty dapper in that tux) with some angry sex as they went off on their mission to stop the killings. It's time to go undercover at some glitzy event to steal the Pirate's hand but of course Bela is there for profit and much deception ensues.

Just when you think all is well,it appears that Bela has stolen and sold said Pirate's hand, seen the Ghost Ship and it supposed to die. Of course the Winchester boys save the day, end up getting some cash and are off to Atlantic City... more games to follow.

Smallville - Wrath of Lana

This week's episode was all about Lana getting infused with Clark's powers and going postal on pretty much everyone around her. It appears that power corrupts (I think the writers at Smallville forgot that little gem) and before going on a rampage, our girl has time to do the nasty in a very super way with Clark.. much to the chagrin of seismologists in Metropolis.

I still don't exactly understand how close Smallville and Metropolis are but people just zip back and forth like nothing, but hey this is Smallville and the regular rules of time and space don't really apply.

Besides the nookie and Lana wanting to destroy Lex, Lois got bashed around at the Daily Planet, ended up in the hospital in Smallville (huh?), there was some cute flirting with the impossibly young editor of the Daily Planet (who appears to be on the Luthor payroll as well) and Chloe finally got to put her foot down and actually wasn't the victim for an episode, instead showing Clark why she is such a good friend and being the voice of reason.

Despite all the drama, it appears that Brainiac is back and Clark and Lana have more issues to deal with.... will the angst ever end?

Bionic Woman- The List

After not having an episode last week (and sure that no one missed it), Jaime and gang are back this week in a storyline that has been done so many times that I wonder if the writers were already on strike when this was thought of. Seriously though, haven't they done this kind of storyline on every spy show that has been done so far?

The characters are still not doing it for me, the bionics are crap, the special effects are most UNspectacular and the storylines? sigh.... pretty sure we won't have any more episodes than the ones already done 'cause with viewers dropping each week I don't expect a full season pick up.

Kid Nation - Bored to Death

Things are getting pretty dull in Bonanza, the kids have realized that all they are doing is working and sleeping and are starving for something new to do. Me thinks they are all going through technology withdrawal, as they did get the baseball equipment and other stuff a few days ago, but they have been there over 3 weeks now.
After some thought, the council decides its time to have a talent show and break some fun to the town, and a whole bunch of the kids decide on different things that they can do for the show.
Some how we get to see a few different kids this week that we haven't really seen before, after all there are around 40 of them and we seem to see the same dozen every week, but nothing really notable except for the so called Paris and Nicole who love to sit around and talk about fashion... yawn. The girls are threatened to shape up or their team will throw the challenge and they will be cleaning toilets.
This week was the grossest frontier challenge ever, the kids had to chew gum and fill in a template with their gum (handed off to their division leader), and there was way too much slobber and used gum being handed around for my taste.... anyways once the challenge is done with (no big prize either as the wimpy yellow team can't get their gum to stick) the kids get back to getting ready for the big show. Jared has decided to do some Shakespeare, and much time is spent highlighting his efforts to memorize his text and to get ready for the show. This kid is so out there and on such a different wavelength than the others that he is always fascinating to watch.
The show goes off not bad and some of the kids have some real talent, some can play the piano and sing, others are goofs and funny and we even get some drag thrown in for good measure. The kids have fun and moral goes up and it looks like they are all in it until the end, which must be coming up soon. The pacing has been less interesting the past couple of weeks and I am getting bored also...

Dancing with the Stars - Week 7

This was probably the hardest week of the competition so far, with each of the stars having to do 2 different dances, and you could tell the pressure was getting to the participants as the scores went back and forth, and not one team hit a home run on both dances. The Judges are getting more "persnickity" about technique and raising the bar even higher and the scores were pretty much evened out across the board, making the viewer votes the deciding factor for our dancers.
Mel's Pasodoble was hot hot hot, and there is no one left in the competition that can match her presence and not only did she get a perfect score, but was the encore performance for the result's show. I don't want to jinx anything but would love to see Mel win the season. Jennie is still doing a great job and held her ground, while Marie was a good as usual (seriously have to give her kudos for being a great performer), Helio did okay, Cameron looks good but needs to cut down on the Red Bull and Jane is very elegant but has no "oumph" in her performance. You can probably figure out it was Jane who was eliminated this week and left with as much grace and dignity that you would expect from her.
I will say that I absolutely loved the "Dance Centre" bit with Kenny Maynes, Jerry Rice and Len. The writers may be on strike but Kenny is a very funny guy and his comments and flippant attitude was hilarious (what was with his make up???) and they should keep them around each week until the strike is over or this season ends.. what ever happens first...

Heroes - Out of Time

Great episode last night, lots happened, mysteries were revealed and things feel back on track with this show.

We finally got to see the mystery paintings from last week and things look grim for HRG, there is a bullet right through his glasses and he looks pretty dead.

Hiro did, in a sense, become his hero (as I have been saying for weeks), and made a major enemy out of Kensei before apparently blowing him up (like that would work), breaking the Princess's heart and then finally returned from the past and reunited with Ando.

Claire and flying boy got closer until HRG appeared and mucked things up... HRG wants to move again and Claire is not happy...

Matt got a better hold on his abilities, learning that he can manipulate minds like his father (Maury) and managed to defeat dear old Dad and save Molly.

Suresh and Niki were manipulated by the Company and Maury, with Suresh getting whacked around pretty good before Niki injected herself with the virus and possibly killed 97% of the population... now it appears the Claire is needed for her regenerative ability and hopefully a decent storyline.

Peter was still in the future, managed to have another shirtless scene (hot), learned that most of the world is dead due to a virus, met his mom, got his memory back and then returned to the present sans friend from Ireland... right back to Montreal where Adam was waiting for him... and Adam is none other than Kensei (guess he's immortal also?) and the games continue..

Chuck VS the Alma Mater

What a great episode of Chuck... after resisting efforts from pretty much everyone around him, our resident nerd goes back to Stanford to help solve a mystery concerning his old professor (who got him expelled) and in the process learns the truth behind his expulsion.

Not only did we learn that Chuck was on the hot list to be a spy, but his buddy Bryce set him up to be booted because Chuck is too much of a nice guy and wanted to protect him.

Warm fuzzies all around, but it does beg the question of why Bryce decided later on to send Chuck the Intersect.. but that is probably for another week.

Chuck's fellow nerds fought a battle of their own against the evil Tang and his power trip, and managed to seduce, betray and ultimately win back some of their dignity, all thanks to some great team work, the hilarious Goth chick that works magic and the control code for the master remote... the nerd herd is hilarious and make for great moments. I can hardly wait for next week !

Desperate Housewives

Halloween came to Wisteria Lane last night, and Danielle's brilliant costume of dressing as Bree was absolutely hysterical... all the way to acting like her mother until her water breaks and it's time for an emergency delivery with Dr. Frankenstein. Kudos to Danielle as she put in a great performance last night, and giving up her baby was a very hard thing to do as much as she said she didn't want it.
Unfortunately they made Andrew dress as Cher (stupid), but the rest of the cast that was in costume was pretty good, Katherine wasn't in this episode much but still managed to make her presence known at the party including some very bitchy comments to our resident gay couple.
Lynette's cancer storyline has hopefully wrapped up, and the parallel story of waiting for her results and the possum problem was a bit overdone but effective none the less.
Gaby and Carlos are still as on again off again as usual, Edie is complicating things with letting Victor know about the affair and Susan still can't get a decent storyline this year. I am not sure if Teri Hatcher pissed off the writers but they are not being too kind with her at the moment, and her and hunky husband are getting pretty dull.... now with the writer's strike this season may be short and unfulfilled as who knows where things will wrap up...

The Amazing Race

While this episode may have been called Donkeys have souls, it was more about being bitten on the ass by karma than anything else.

I was thrilled that the latest edition of the Race started last night, and so far our Goth Couple (Kynt & Vyxsin) have completely won me over. Besides being who they want to be, no apologies, it was the " we are little Goth energizer bunnies" comment that got me, and wish them the best on the Race.... I am still curious what their passport photos must look like and what kind of reactions they will get in some more conservative areas of the world, but that's one of the things that makes the Race so great. I wonder if they will be able to maintain their look as the Race progresses and they have less time to prep... time will tell.....

Going back to the karma business... the team that stole a cab in round one got ousted, and that is karma... hopefully lessons have been learned and the other teams will play nice as it is usually the more positive teams that go far in this competition. I was still in awe as I watched some of the team already go into meltdown mode (already!!) and the Race has just begun.... go Goths go !

MADtv Season Premiere

The 13th season was kicked off last night, so that means finally a new episode (hooray!), and most of the cast from last year have returned and they have a new venue this year, the swanky Musicbox Theatre.

Nicole Parker's Britney Spears imitation gets better each time, and her latest song was too funny... it looks like clips will be available on YouTube soon so something to keep an eye out for.... they do the best music parodies on this show.

The parodies and skits were as hilarious as usual, there was another edition of 24 with Bobby Lee (too hilarious) and without a doubt, way funnier than what I saw of SNL last night.

If you haven't seen the genius that is Nicole Parker doing Britney,
